This kind of sums up the whole blasted war for me.
This is a mosaic I did of Bush's famous "single finger victory salute". It's made up of the 3,000 pictures of the the soldiers who have died for this man's reckless decision to wage this war of choice.

Seems like you're already describing any major city in America today. Hey, how about those hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who were murdered after Saddam was overthrown. Oh yea, that's just collateral damage. Got to break a few eggs n' all. And then there's the *millions* of Iraqi's who have fled to other countries as refugees because Iraq is such a hospitable place to live now that Saddam is gone.
Your child like argumentation and world view is the primary reason why we've got such a royally fucked up situation.

To the person that made the first comment: Do you really believe that the war is happening because of human rights issues? Did you as firmly believe it was because they had nuclear weapons? If FOX NEWS says in a month that the reason the US is in Iraq is because they're looking for tall guys to join the basketball team will you believe that too? Is the reason that USA had such good relations with Saddam before because of human rights? When he was bombing the kurds with US weapons? They had a very close relationship as the US was using Iraq to fight the "commies" of Iran, it was all m16s. Divide and conquer. Indonesia: support of the dictator as long as he provides cheap oil- he can do whatever he wants to east timor. When the US said they didn´t support him anymore after 25 years he left the country the same day. All of South America - Pinochet etc. Turkey- the worst human rights record right now, they´re the best as they provide airbases for all of the US operations in the middle east. You have probably never read a text this long so I'm sure I've lost you already.

Actually, that's the whole point, isn't it? Everyone is using these dead people for any number of causes - from Bush to Cheney to the AEI to Glenn Reynolds to the NY Times to even me. What Bush is doing is saying FU to them - you're here to die for me, bitches.
The sad fact is, they're used by everybody. I think they gave up the ability to say no to people using their images when they put on the mantle of national symbols. And like it or not, they are national symbols. I mean, we have quite a few holidays memorializing them. "Greatest generation" and all. Lot's of different ways of making them symbols. Then there's their own symbol making - the few, the proud. army of one. etc.
So, I don't feel any line has been crossed there.
But, again, the whole point is to bring out the uncomfortable feeling you get when viewing a FU from GW composed of their faces.
It's intentional.
