3. Which comes closest to your view?
--People should pay the same rate of tax on their incomes, regardless of how much money they make, 40 percent.(h/t, first draft)--People who earn more money should pay a higher tax rate on their incomes than people who earn less money, 57 percent
--Not sure, 3 percent

Mark, you can opt out of the government anytime. I don't know why you have to destroy our government. For the most part, we like it.
I do doubt you'll make much money (or create much wealth) without a government, though.
Or maybe you believe in a free lunch or at least a free ride. You want the benefits without having to pay a dime?
Rich people use more of government. It isn't for the poor that the military exists. Our expensive equipment isn't advancing the needs of the poor, is it? Are you seriously telling me that all those lobbyists that are pretty much writing the laws are doing it for the hobos?
Boy, you are dim.
Hell, I'd settle for a fixed-across-the-board tax rate - with no loopholes/exemptions/deductions whatever allowed.
Was thinking today that part of the reason Americans' savings rate has declined over past 40 years (phenomenon normally blamed on consumerism alone) is that there's less discretionary income.
FY 2004 fed budget was ~17% of GDP. So, were your taxes to the fed 17% - higher or lower?
Those with the most money benefit the most from government in making that money and keeping it safe; therefore, they should pay more to keep the system intact, if only to protect themselves. It's to their own advantage.
If it weren't for the fact that it would impact us all so negatively, it would be hilarious to see half-wits like Mark have to deal with a society in which everything was relegated to the private sector and the free market. I'd love to see him having to pay out of pocket for police and fire protection, for paved roads and postal service, etc. etc. etc.
Rich people use more of government
Earth to Hal.....Earth to Hal.You can say that all you want but it won't make it true. Boy you are dim. And the arguement that the military only exists to protect the rich...lame....lame....lame.

Yeah...I suck alot out of he system. I'll take 17% with no deducts any day.

Just take this one sentence from what our socialist friend said:
"benefit the most from government in making that money"
Sorry comrade but they BENEFIT the most from working hard, having high standards for themselves and their families, taking care of their things and taking education seriously.

Ps: Haven't checked the news yet this morning. Is DeLay ......still the LEADER?
Mark, you really don't know my background and I must say that I find your little taunts highly amusing in context. Say, why don't you go over to the national budget simulation and generate your dream scenario and let us all know what you'd do. Sure, it's out of date and the numbers have all gotten so much bigger under the last term of Bush (unlike, say, Clinton, where the budget was actually balanced and the size of government went DOWN).
Or are you man enough?
Oh, and how much percentage of your income did YOU pay to the fed, Mark? Notice you didn't say. . .
