Market for War Justifications

Well, since the "WMD Program" justification is completely evaporating now, I think that we should set up a Futures Market for predicting the next justification that they're going to be pushing. If we can do it for Terror, why not Iraq War Justifications this Administration is likely to start pushing?

Just a thought.

I'm not too into the "fly paper" theory (that having our army army in Iraq draws all terrorist activity to where we can best fight it). If that was an actual justification wouldn't it have to be kept secret? I mean, wouldn't a terrorist then just have to turn on the news to be hip to our brilliant fly-paper plan.

Let's just say I'm not going to invest too heavily in any justification that is automatically invalidated simply by revealing it.

Almost every single one of the justifications has this same property. The market is more of "what will they dream up next" not "what will actually work as a justification". Maybe we could build derivatives on the derivatives (fine tradition in finance) to accommodate whether or not the justification is considered al dente or not.

Oh yeah, but I was just speculating that that justification won't survive as a talking point for too long.

Ah! Discounting ahead of market opening I see. We should hire you on as an analyst.

I've got an idea for a "futures market" we should all invest in.. let's pick a date, say, oh, how about November of next year.. we'll pick a couple guys and we'll all place our bets on who will become our "leader".. now, instead of cold hard cash, lets wager national economic stability, international credibility, and our civil rights..

Already doing that. Losing our collective shirt, I might add. Unfortunately, that market seems to be completely gamed by ethicless analysts and a complete lack of transparency.

short of a coup, it's all we got..

I'm not too big on that alternative option at all.
